Gerd Hauser

Prof. Hauser studied mechanical engineering at the Technische Universität München. From 1972 until 1977 he was a research associate at the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics, theoretical division Holzkirchen. After his doctorate in 1977 at the University of Stuttgart he was head engineer in the Institute for Building Physics at the University of Essen until 1983. From 1983 until 2004 he was professor for building physics at the University of Kassel. Since 2004 Prof. Hauser is head of the Institute of Building Physics at the Technische Universität München and head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP). Since 1984 he is also the owner of an engineering office for building physics. Prof. Dr. Gerd Hauser advises the German federal government, the German Ministry of Transport, Buildings and Urban Development (BMVBS) and various EU commissions in the areas of energy efficiency and sustainability. Prof. Dr. Gerd Hauser is not only a founding member of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), but has also been a member of the steering committee from 2007 to 2011. Prof. Dr. Gerd Hauser is active in various professional organisations and national and international standards committees:
